Today, at Planet Singer, we have the great pleasure of diving more into Jaron’s world with an exclusive interview!
Hi Jaron, thanks a lot for being with us today! Being a real artist means knowing how to turn dreams, thoughts, and emotions into something that can resonate with an audience, whether it is a painting, a song, a sculpture, or a film. You are proof of that, and the incredible work you did with your movie “The Bond” and its soundtrack speaks for itself. We are thrilled to know more about you, so let’s start from the beginning. When did you discover your passion for movies and music?
I have had a passion for movies and music ever since I was 5 or 6 years old. My father purchased a video camera for the family and I would use it to record little short films of myself. So the passion has been embedded to storytell through these mediums at a young age.
Let’s talk about “The Bond.” How did this project start?
The Bond was created through a random series of major life events, including graduating from film school and the pandemic that followed afterward. After my dreams of going to work in Hollywood were dampened by covid, I decided to get my own gear and shoot my own short films. This eventually led to the creation of The Bond.
When you were writing the movie, did you have a clear idea also of the soundtrack that would have accompanied each scene, or did you work on it after the shooting?
I thought I did. The original plan for the score and the soundtrack was vastly different than what it wound up being. A lot of this came down to tone and direction but also me taking the reins and creating a lot of the music myself.

The creative process is different from artist to artist. Can you reveal yours? Is your approach to film production different from the music one?
The big difference between film and music is the collaborative process. It is virtually impossible to make a feature film by yourself, so you really have to be able to play nice, be on time and know/enforce the rules and flow of things and other people. Music is a lot more inward, so I only really have to deal with the engineer who has to record my music.
How did the casting of “The Bond” go? Did you already have in mind the right actors for the roles?
Well, the story was written around a few of my friends who train as martial artists, from there, I casted friends and local hip hop artists that I work with here in Phoenix.
“Bonded For Life” is such an excellent track that, like “The Bond,” stands out for its narrative and storytelling. Can you tell us more about this track?
This was actually the first real track I had written specifically for The Bond. However, I didn’t necessarily want to make it about the movie directly. Instead, I decided to shine a light on the strength of relationships in the face of racial injustice and prejudice in America, a very subtle parallel to the elements of The Bond.

Where do you find your inspiration?
I try to recharge my battery often by watching/reading/listening to new content on a regular basis. I like to think that I’m constantly learning and discovering more about the world, relationships, and myself, so I draw inspiration from that.
If you could collaborate with someone within the Cinema and Music industry, who would you like to work with?
I really want to collaborate with anyone who has a strong, clear vision and is willing to execute to the highest of their capabilities. Artists like Donald Glover come to mind when I think about this.
If you could give a piece of advice to all those young artists, filmmakers, and creatives taking the first steps into the industry, what would it be?
Just do it. Oftentimes, artists spend too much time worrying about how people will respond and wind up never executing on their art.
Creativity never stops. Are you planning a sequel to “The Bond?”
Haha, this is a very big question. I think the ending of the movie definitely opens up not only new questions but a new level as well. We want to make sure that if and when we do make the sequel for The Bond, that we execute on the necessary level to match that. With that said, there was always “more to the story,” so we will see.

What are your plans for the future?
Currently, we are shooting my next film, tentatively titled “Magenta,” and are hoping for a late 2023 release on that.
