Hi Seth, and thanks for being here with us today at Planet Singer! Your latest single “Remains The Same” is a great track that shows clearly how important is it for your narrative and storytelling in your songs. We can’t wait to know more about you and your artistic journey so, let’s start from the very beginning. When did you discover your passion for music?

Thank you, guys, so much for having me! I first discovered my passion for music through gospel ministries when I was singing in church growing up. I slowly started to write my own music and wanted to grow more as an artist with my storytelling and venturing out into different genres. I feel like growing up singing gospel music helped me develop a really soulful energy when I sing that I’ve carried throughout a lot of my other music, so it feels very authentic for me.

Let’s talk about your single “Remains The Same,” a beautiful song that captivates the listeners from the first note to the last! Can you tell us more about it?

I really wanted to write a sincere love song about the ebbs and flows of a long-term relationship, because as many love songs as there are out there, I don’t hear enough that are from a realistic point of you of what love is like for our generation.

Will it be included in a full-length release?

I hope so! If things go as planned absolutely Gospel Music took and still takes a big part in your musical journey.

Your album Holiday is particularly inspired. Will you release any more Gospel Music in the future?

You never know what the future holds, but I hope to! Gospel music has been a huge inspiration in my life, so going back to original roots is always a dream for an artist.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Most of my inspiration comes from life struggles that I like to express in storytelling through my lyricism. I try to bring a positive outlook to a situation, for example, “Remains the Same” is the long-term relationship inspirational song. I feel like a lot of our generation gives up too easily when it comes to love, but there are many more different sounds and topics to come. I think life is full of enough, darkness and negativity, although I will express my truth on the subject through my music. Of course, relationships, friendships, insecurities, and everything under the stars can be an inspiration if you let it.

Inspiration is important, then comes songwriting. Can you reveal what your creative process takes form? How does your music come to life?

Every songwriting experience is different, I love co-writing to get me out of my box and make me use things I maybe wouldn’t have done otherwise. I like to start with lyrics first, usually, and build from there! But I never go into a songwriting experience expecting to start a specific way or keep it in a specific box, because it definitely will end up not being that anyway! Having fun with it and writing your truth and what you feel is the best guide for songwriting.

You are very active live, what do you like the most about performing in front of an audience?

Sharing my music and stories and seeing faces light up as they relate or escape into the lyrics has to be my favorite part. I love the energy I get from a crowd. Both live and studio, what makes you stand out is your incredible voice and interpretations! The years of Musical Theater have been clearly fundamental for your artistic growth, and your natural attitude did the rest.

Do you study with a professional vocal coach at the moment?

I’ve worked with numerous vocal coaches over my career and I attribute everything I’ve done to all of them because everyone sings a different way and I’ve learned so much technique from mentors and coaches. I will say the first person to show me music could be my career was my choir teacher in high school, Mrs. Raker. I always think fondly of being in her class and learning with her as I grew up, now the classes are a bit different, such as attending Vanderbilt Voice Center.
