Mawhga Lion, it is such a pleasure having you with us today at Planet Singer. Your latest EP is just incredible. Engaging and energetic from start to finish, it showcases your talent and artistic maturity. But let’s start from the beginning. How did you discover your passion for music?

Actually, listening to Jack Ruby Sound System with Bobby Culture back in the days is where my passion really started; the rest is history.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Well, I find my inspiration in the things that confront me and day-to-day activities, then insert them into my music.

Your EP “Express” is one of those releases you listen to all in one breath. Can you tell us more about this project?

This project is like a new beginning. It’s all about positive vibes and positive music.

If you could share the stage with one of the artists who inspired you the most, who would you like to collaborate with?

I would say Junior One Blood Reid, Wayne Wonder, and Louie Culture.

Your style is unique. How important is it for you to stay genuine to your style?

Just continue to focus, and do what I was born to do. Music is my life.

Can you reveal your creative process? How does your music take life?

Well, I am from the old school, and watching those original cultural Artists, I’ve learned that craft from an early age and adopt and apply that principle.

All the tracks of your EP are fantastic, and I have to compliment also for the excellent balance among the songs on the tracklist! The opening track, especially, introduces us into your artistic world with its incredibly catchy rhythms and melodies. Can you tell us more about “Ticki Ticki”?

LoL, as an artist with no name, you get no respect from big producers or promoters. Nobody wants to give you that first break unless you have money or some good connections.

Your music is not only about the rhythm and melody. Your lyrics are always on point, resonating with the listeners from the first word to the last. How important is it for you to deliver a message while entertaining your audience?

It’s like writing a composition or a story with a bit of humor and focus on the topic lol.

What are your plans for the future?

For the four corners of the earth to know and hear Mawhga Lion’s music.
