SnapDibz, thanks for being with us today! Your music digs deep into the listeners’ emotions thanks to your unique sound, brilliant songwriting, and strong narrative approach; we are thrilled to know more about your artistic journey! I listened to your latest single “Shady Eyes” on repeat! What a track! The song addresses backstabbers and naysayers—what inspired you to take on this theme, and how does it reflect your own experiences?
Shady Eyes is indeed a catchy dark bop. Rey and I have completed many tracks about standing up to the haters (rivals, downfall, driving by). There are so many who try to keep you in your place and don’t want you to succeed. I’ve had random “trolls” say the music is bad and I should stop, but I never have yet! Rey actually came up with the chorus of this song first and then I completed my verse. Most of the time I write his chorus but occasionally I “let Rey drive.”
Working with Rey Khan on “Shady Eyes” created such a unique blend of R&B and hip-hop. Can you tell us about your collaboration process and how his contribution shaped the track?
He did great finding lyrics that fit the melody.
The lyric video for “Shady Eyes” adds a strong visual dimension to the song. What was your vision for the visuals, and how did they help bring the song’s message to life?
The lyric video was intended to gather the emotion of the song which I believe it did well. The darkness and the conspiracy in the eyes of many.

Your EP “Levels” was a breakthrough in introducing your music to a global audience. How do you feel your music and message have evolved since then?
“Levels” was my first professionally produced EP. I have 2 “underground” albums prior to this, me and DJ Dibz (thus the name SnapDibz) produced and mixed ourselves. Since DJ dibs left, I’ve outsourced much of the producing of the instrumentals. I feel my message hasn’t evolved as it’s a very open message that crosses many aspects of life as the music crosses many genres as you mentioned.
In “My Life,” your son stars as a young martial artist facing challenges—can you tell us what this song means to you personally and why you chose this theme?
“My Life” also features Rey on the chorus. This time he was singing a chorus that I wrote for the track. With the song titled “My Life.” I wanted the music video to incorporate part of my life in it. “Reel Mob” are the true directors of the music video, whom I’ve worked with on what I call live music videos for many years. We worked together on the concept of the song and I feel it tells a great story and came out well. The song shows growth over one’s life. My son stars in the official video of the song, family is so important to me; I wrote a tribute song to my two kids titled “Giving,” and even a song reminding my son I’ll always be there titled “Follow Me.”
“Backwards in My Head” has become your most-streamed song. What do you think resonates most with listeners about this track?
“Backwards in my head” is such a vibe. I feel the beat and mood of the song resonate with so many. The song is so well written and I feel many people resonate also as they are in a dark place emotionally. The animated music video was a great depiction of the lyrics.

What role do you feel music plays in helping people through challenging times?
Eminem said it best when he said “Music can alter moods and talk to you.” Music has been around since the beginning of time, as everything is vibration. I feel sometimes people don’t know how to express what they really feel, so a certain song does it for them, and they vibe it. I also think music can change your energy, upbeat music for upbeat times, minor chords for more sorrow times.
You’ve explored a wide range of sounds in your singles, from high-energy hip-hop to more introspective, emotional tracks. Is there one song that you feel best represents who SnapDibz is as an artist?
Finding one song that represents SnapDibz is difficult. Sometimes I feel like “Queen,” as the music is just different, and it crosses so many genres. A few EDM tracks, from the slow nostalgic sounds like “Slow Down” and “Backwards in My Head,” to the banging pure hip-hop tracks like “Keep it Low.” So I can’t really pick one song that categorizes SnapDibz.
Collaborating with talented producers like James Cellow and Flawless/505 Studios has added depth to your music. How has working with different producers influenced your sound?
Working with various producers was interesting as each has their own unique type of sound. Flawless from Canada I’ve worked with many times. He creates great skeletons for beats. 505 and James are great at mixing and mastering. I’m the type to work with anyone who can add to the track. I like to listen to the beats produced by James and Flawless and just find the ones that resonate with me, sometimes the song is written in a few hours if it’s that perfect song!

Having been in the music industry for a while, what advice would you give to emerging artists who look up to you?
For emerging artists, I’d recommend following your own path and your own sound. Just don’t try to mimic something you like, find your unique flavor. Build your team as it’s hard for one person to do everything from produce to market, to mix and write and record and promote and create videos etc. Find your team and your sound!
If you could choose any artist, past or present, to collaborate with on a project, who would it be and why?
I’d love to work with Eminem and Ed Sheeran. Eminem is the best out there in my opinion when it comes to rap. To see how his mind creates would be amazing! Ed Sheeran is so versatile and creates so much good music, it would be an honor to work with either of these artists.
Lastly, what’s next for SnapDibz? Any upcoming projects or messages you’d like to share with your fans?
I have another 5 songs to be released and have set up the next one titled “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” for late November. I plan to continue making music and trying to grow my audience. I wish it was easy but sadly it’s not. I plan to continue working with Flawless and James and hopefully will have a few more colabs next year! Stay tuned!
